"A photograph is a secret about a secret. The more it tells you the less you know."Diane Arbus

Fatale Femmes is owned and operated by Domina Doll (aka D. R. Anderson).  Domina is a professional visual artist whose works are not limited to one medium, but explore a diverse range of image-making processes that are determined by the individual project and the artist's inspiration.  From photographic and collage works, to video, film and installations, Domina's imagery is always compelling, unconventional and unique.

About Domina

Domina Doll
Domina is a product of the rebellious sixties and was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia.   Her childhood was very much a fairytale fantasy in the way in which she precieved it: through the eyes of a dreamer, the curiosity of an explorer, the imagination of an inventor, and the creativity of a child who knows no bounds and always breaks the rules.

Domina has traveled Canada from coast to coast and has lived in many places including Wales, Alberta, Newfoundland and New Brunswick.  Something about her home province however has always drawn her back to Nova Scotia which remains as magical and beautiful a place as it was in her childhood.

Domina graduated from Transformation Hair Design when she was eightteen, where she won the Award for Creative Make-up.  After working for various prominant salons, she then entered the entertainment industry as a hair stylist and make-up artist specializing in hair for bands and creative make-up for theatre and stage.  From there, Domina went back to her first love, art, and enrolled in a photography course at NBCCD in Fredericton where she won the Governor General's Award in 2003.   She continued her education, completing a BFA at NSCAD in Filmmaking and has hopes of one day returning to university part time to complete her Masters in Fine Arts.

Domina and her various alter egos have participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions at numerous galleries including Network Cultures in Amsterdam, Struts Gallery in Sackville, N.B., as well as Centre for Art Tapes and Anna Leowens Gallery in Halifax, N.S.  Her photographic prints have been purchased for collections at the UNB Art Centre in Fredericton, N.B., in addition to being featured in various magazines such as Whiplash!, Creative Source, Broken Pencil, and PhotoLife.  Domina's photography was also featured on Showcase's TV series KINK in 2006.  Her Curriculum Vitae is available upon request.  To find out more about where and what publications Fatale Femmes has appeared in, check out our MEDIA page.
